Faithfulness

– In the history of salvation, it designates the immutability of God in fulfilling the Covenant and the inconstancy on the part of the people:

Ex 34,6 : Lord, Lord, God compassionate and merciful, slow to anger, rich in goodness and faithfulness.

Psalm 32 :4: Because the word of the Lord is right, faithfulness shines forth in all his works.

Ps 118,90 : Your truth lasts from generation to generation, as stable as the land you created.

Ps 142,1 : Lord, hear my prayer; for your faithfulness, hear my supplication.

Lm 3,22-23 : It is thanks to the Lord that we were not annihilated […] Every morning he manifests himself and great is his faithfulness.

– It is designated in several ways in the AT:

Num 23:19 : God is not a man to lie, nor one to repent. Have you ever promised without fulfilling?

Tob 14:4 : And the peace he enjoyed was in proportion to his progress in the fear of God.

Ps 118,89 : Your Word is eternal, Lord, as stable as the sky.

Is 40,8 : The grass withers and the flower withers, but the word of our God endures forever.

Mal 3,6 : For I am the Lord and I change not; and you, O sons of Jacob, are not yet an extinct people.

2Sm 7,8-16 : I took you from the pastures where you kept your sheep to make you the leader of my people Israel.

Ps 88,29.34 : Assured will be his eternal favor, and indissoluble will be my pact with him.

– Mercifully strengthens his disciples and protects them from sin:

1Th 5:24 : Faithful is he who calls you, and he will fulfill it.
