Justification

– Action of divine grace that makes us righteous. OT Doctrine:

Job 9:2 : Yes, I know it is so. How could man be right with God?

Psalm 50 :6 : Your sentence thus appears just, and your judgment upright.

Ps 129,3 : If you consider our sins, Lord, Lord, who can stand before you?

Psalm 142 :2 : Enter not into judgment with your servant, for no one living is righteous in your sight.

Wis 12:12 : For who will dare to say to you: “What have you done?”. And who will oppose your judgment?

Is 29,16 : What perversity of yours! Can you treat the potter like clay? Can the work say of the craftsman: “He did nothing to me?”.

Is 45,9 : Woe to him who quarrels with the one who formed him, a vessel among earthen vessels!

Jr 12,1 : You are most righteous, Lord, that I enter into dispute with you.

Jer 18,1-6 : The word of the Lord was addressed to Jeremiah in these terms: “Go and go down to the potter’s house”.

– In the NT we were sanctified and justified by baptism:

1Cor 6,11 : But you were sanctified, but you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

– We are justified not by the Law, but by divine mercy:

Rom 3,21-31 : But now, apart from the Law, the justice of God, attested by the Law and the prophets, has been manifested.

Rom 5:10-21 : If, while we were still enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son.

Rom 6–7 : So what shall we say? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

Rom 9,19-20 : You will perhaps say to me: “Why does he still complain? Who can resist his will?”

1Cor 6,11 : You were sanctified, but you were justified, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Gal 2:21 : I do not despise the grace of God; but, verily, if justice is obtained by the Law, Christ died in vain.

Gal 5 :4 : You are already separated from Christ, you who seek justification by the Law.

– To bear fruit in every good work:

Eph 2:10 : We are his workmanship, created in Jesus Christ for good deeds.

Col 1:10 : So that you behave in a manner worthy of the Lord […] being fruitful in every good work.

1Tm 6,18 : Do good, be enriched with good works, be generous, communicative.

Titus 3:8: This doctrine is certain, and I want you to teach it with constancy and firmness, so that those who have embraced faith in God.
