Providence

– Divine Providence in general:

Ps 103,27s : All these beings expect from you that you feed them in their season.

Ps 144,15s : All hopeful eyes turn to you, and in due time you feed them.

Wis 6,7 : The Lord of all will not make an exception for anyone, and will not allow himself to be imposed by greatness.

Mt 6,24-34 : Therefore, behold, I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body.

Acts 17:28 : Because it is in him that we have life, movement and being.

Col 1:17 : He exists before all things, and all things hold together in him.

1Pt 5:7: Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

– Divine Providence in particular:

Psalm 22 : The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. In green meadows he makes me lie down.

Ps 36,23ff : The Lord makes firm the steps of man and approves his ways. Even if he falls, he will not be prostrate.

Ps 146 : Praise the Lord for he is good; sing to our God, for he is lovable, and praise is fitting for him.

Eclo 17,16 : All his works are clear to him as the sun, and his eyes watch his way without ceasing.

Lk 12,6s : Not one of them goes unnoticed before God. Even the hairs on your head are all numbered.

– God creates and cares for creatures:

Gen 1–2 : In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Job 38 : Who is this that obscures Providence with meaningless speeches?

Ps 103 : Lord, my God, you are immensely great! With majesty and splendor you are clothed.

Ps 144 : O my God, my king, I will glorify you, and bless your name for ever and ever.

Ps 146 :9: Who feeds the flocks, the young ravens that cry out to him.

Is 42,5ss : This is what the Lord God says, who created the heavens and unfolded them, who established the earth and all its vegetation.

Is 10,5-14 : Woe to Assyria, rod of my anger and staff that handles my fury.

Ezekiel 26 :7: This is what the Lord Yahweh says: From the north I command against Tyre.

– Everything that happens to human beings is due to divine will or permission:

Job 5:6 : For evil does not come from the dust, nor does suffering spring from the earth.

Job 34:21 : For God looks at the conduct of each one and observes all his steps.

Pr 5:21 : For the Lord considers the ways of men and observes all their paths.

Pr 16,9 : The heart of man plans his way, but it is the Lord who directs his steps.

– Providence manifests itself in the exodus, in the Alliance, in the destiny of the chosen people:

– Providence decides for the people in salvation or perdition, whether they are faithful or not faithful:

Judg 2,11-12 : The Israelites then did evil in the eyes of the Lord and served Baal.

1Sm 4-5 : In those days, Israel went out against the Philistines to fight them.

– It also accompanies the life of the individual:

Job 10:12 : You have given me life and mercy, and your providence has preserved my spirit.

Ps 36:23 : The Lord makes firm the steps of man and approves his ways.

– By reason of Providence, man can place all his unreserved trust in God:

Mt 5:45 : You will be the children of your Father in heaven, for he makes his sun rise on both the evil and the good.

Mt 6,25-34 : Do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body.

Mt 7,7-8 : Ask and it will be given to you. Seek and you will find. Knock and it will be opened to you.

Mt 10,29-30 : Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? However, none falls to the ground without the will of your Father.

Lk 12,6-7.22-23 : Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And yet, not one of them goes unnoticed before God.
