– The word sky has several meanings: it indicates the upper part of the sensitive world as opposed to the earth; it would be like a wide roof where the stars are affixed and where the rain reservoirs are found, or superior waters, according to the Semitic cosmological conception:
Gen 1,6-7 : God made the expanse and divided the waters under the expanse.
Gen 7:11 : On that day all the fountains of the great deep burst up, and the walls of heaven were opened.
Ps 148,4 : Praise him, heavens of heaven, and you, oceans of heavenly spaces.
Job 38:37 : Who can number the clouds with wisdom and incline the skins of heaven?
– The expression “heaven and earth” indicates the entire universe:
Gen 1 :1 : In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

2Pt 3:13 : We, however, according to his promise, look forward to new heavens and a new earth, in which justice will dwell.
