Abraham

– The main patriarch of the people of Israel has his name changed from Abram to Abraham , by Yahweh, because he would not only be the father of the chosen people, but of all humanity:

Gen 17:5 : From now on, your name will no longer be called Abram, but Abraham.

– His story is narrated between chapters 12 to 25 of Genesis, as the protagonist of the alliance of the Hebrew people with Yahweh.

– It is profusely quoted in several places in both OT and NT Holy Scripture:

Ne 9,7-8 : You, Lord God, chose Abram.

1Mk 2,52 : Was it not in the test that Abraham remained faithful?

Eclo 44,20 : Abraham is the illustrious father of an infinity of peoples.

Ex 33,1 : Go to the land that I promised Abraham.

Deuteronomy 1 :8 : Go and possess the land which I swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Ps 46:10 : The princes of the peoples gathered to the people of the God of Abraham.

Is 41 :8 : But you, Israel, my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, offspring of Abraham, my friend.

Mt 1,1 : Genealogy of Jesus Christ, son of David, son of Abraham.

Mt 3,9 : We have Abraham for our father!

Mt 8:11 : Multitudes will come from East and West and will settle down in the Kingdom of Heaven with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Mt 22:32 : “Am I the God of Abraham […] and the God of Jacob?” (Ex 3,6). Now he is not God of the dead, but God of the living.

Rom 4,1-22 : What advantage shall we say, then, that Abraham, our father according to the flesh, obtained?

Gal 3,6-15 : Know therefore: only those who have faith are children of Abraham.

Heb 11,8-18 : It was by faith that Abraham, obeying the divine call, set out for a land that he was to receive as an inheritance.
