Blasphemy

– Offense to divine honor and majesty. In the OT the blasphemer was condemned to death:

Leviticus 24:10-16 : Anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord will be punished with death.

– The attitude of Jesus Christ in proclaiming himself the Son of God and forgiving sins is considered as blasphemy:

Mt 9,3 : Hearing this, some scribes murmured among themselves: “This man blasphemes”.

Jn 10,31-36 : It is not for any good work that we want to stone you, but for blasphemy.

– Jesus is condemned to death as a blasphemer:

Mt 26,63-66 : “You have just heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” They replied: “Deserves death!”.

– Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the conscious refusal of divine grace, even in the face of obvious signs of the divine mission of Jesus Christ:

Mt 12:31 : But the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven them.”

Mk 3,28s : All sins will be forgiven the sons of men, even their blasphemies.
