Cup

– Word used in the normal sense of drinking vessel and cup for liturgical uses:

Mt 26:27 : Then he took the cup, gave thanks and gave it to them, saying: “Drink from it, all of you”.

Mk 14:23 : Then he took the cup, gave thanks and presented it to them, and they all drank from it.

Lc 22,17 : Take this chalice and distribute it among you.

Ex 25:29 : You shall make its dishes, its censers, its cups and its bowls of pure gold, which will serve for the libations.

Ps 22 :5: You pour perfume on my head, and my cup overflows.

– Also used in a symbolic sense, due to its content: bitter drink, meaning trial and suffering:

Ezekiel 23:32 : You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup that is wide and deep, that will provoke ridicule and laughter.
