Curse

– Word or set of them that reveals the will for something negative to happen. Equivalent to imprecation, curse:

Gen 3,14-15 : God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you will be cursed above all livestock and above all wild beasts”.

Gen 4:11 : You will be cursed and driven from the land, which opened its mouth to drink your brother’s blood from your hand.

Gen 9:25 : “Cursed be Canaan”, he said, “may he be the least of his brothers’ slaves!”

Gen 12 :3 : I will bless those who bless you, and those who curse you I will curse.

Ps 136,8-9 : O daughter of Babylon, the devastator, happy is he who repays you for the evil you have done to us!

Jer 17:15 : Behold, they cry out: “What has become of the oracles of the Lord? May they be fulfilled!”

– Jesus, on the contrary, asks forgiveness for those who make mistakes and teaches to bless those who curse:

Mt 5,38-48 : You have heard that it was said: An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. I, however, say to you: do not resist evil.

Lk 6:28 : Bless those who curse you and pray for those who insult you.

– The episode of the curse of the fig tree that did not bear fruit is a parable inserted later in the text to indicate the rejection of the Jews to their doctrine of love:

Mk 11,14.21 : And he said to the fig tree: “May no one ever eat fruit from you!”. And the disciples heard this curse.
