Fraternal Correction

– The expression speaks for itself. Correcting the brother is a practice of charity and friendship:

Pr 27.5 : Better is manifest correction than feigned friendship.

Pr 28,23 : Whoever corrects someone finds in the end more gratitude than flattery.

– Jesus recommends it to his disciples and teaches them how to do it:

Mt 18:15 : If your brother has sinned against you, go and rebuke him between you and him alone.

Lk 17,3-4 : If your brother sins, rebuke him; if he repents, forgive him.

– It must be carried out with meekness, without a spirit of superiority:

Gal 6,1-2 : Help one another to carry your burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the Law of Christ.

2Th 3, 13-15 : However, you must not consider him as an enemy, but rebuke him as a brother.

2Tm 2,25 : It is with mildness that he must correct his opponents.

Jas 5,19-20 : He who turns a sinner back from his error will save his soul from death.
