God

– God exists, is personal, transcendent. And he reveals himself to human beings in creation, in the alliance, in history. It’s called “I Am He Who Is”:

Ex 3:14 : God replied to Moses: “I am who I am”.

Job 12,7ss : Friends mock him who calls upon God, so that he will answer him.

Ps 13 : 1 : The fool says in his heart: “There is no God”.

Ps 18 : 2 : The heavens tell the glory of God, and the firmament declares his handiwork.

Ps 99,3 : Know that the Lord is God: he made us, and to him we belong.

Wis 13,1-9 : Those who have not known God are foolish by nature.

Eclo 42,15–43,37 : I will now remember the works of the Lord, I will proclaim what I have seen.

Is 40 :6 : “Cry!” said a voice. And I answered: “What shall I cry out?”.

Acts 14:15ff : We preach precisely so that you turn from vain things to the living God.

Acts 17:24-28 : The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth.

Romans 1:19-23 : Because what can be known about God, they read in themselves, because God revealed it to them with evidence.

Heb 3:4 : For every house has its builder, but the builder of all things is God.

Heb 11:6 : Now without faith it is impossible to please God.

– Creator of heaven and earth:

Gen 1 :1 : In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Gen 2 :4 : In the time when the Lord God made earth and heaven.

Ps 135,5-9 : He created the heavens with wisdom, because his mercy is eternal.

Ps 145 :6: This is the God who made heaven and earth, the sea and all that they contain.

Eclo 1,1-10 : All wisdom comes from the Lord God, she was always with him.

2Mc 7,28 : Think carefully : everything you see, God created from nothing, as did all men.

Col 1,16s : In him all things were created in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible creatures.

Ez 37,27 : I will be their God, and they will be my people.

Ez 43,7 : “Son of man”, the voice told me, “this is the place of my throne”.

Jl 2,27 : Then you will know that I am in the midst of Israel, that I am […] your God […]. And my people will never be confused.

Zc 2,14 : Shout for joy, rejoice, daughter of Zion. Behold, I come to reside in the midst of you – oracle of the Lord.

Mt 1,23 : She will give birth to a son, who will be called Emmanuel (Is 7,14), which means: God with us.

– In AT God reveals himself through the Word, the Law, wisdom; the language used to talk about God is taken from the agricultural, military, forensic and family world; in the NT God reveals himself through the Son:

Heb 1,2-3 : Lately he spoke to us by his Son, who constituted universal heir, through whom he created all things.

– All creatures sing the glory of God:

Num 14:21 : But for my life and for my glory which fills the whole earth.

Psalm 8 in full: Lord our God, how glorious is your name in all the earth!

Ps 18 : 2-7: The heavens tell the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims the work of his hands.

– God is unique:

Deuteronomy 4:35 , 39 : You were a witness to all this, so that you may know that the Lord is God, and that there is none other than him.

1Sm 2,2 : There is no other God besides you, nor rock like our God.
