2Ch 3,8-13 : He also built the hall of the Holy of Holies.
Leviticus 16:2 : Recommend your brother Aaron never to enter the sanctuary beyond the veil.
1Kings 6,16-17.27-28 : A space of twenty cubits, which he destined for the sanctuary, or Holy of Holies.
– In the ark of the covenant there was also the Holy of Holies, closed to the people by a veil:
Ex 26:33 : This veil will serve to separate the “holy” from the “holy of holies”.
– Only the priest could enter there on the Day of Atonement:
Lev 16,2-90 : Recommend your brother Aaron never to enter the sanctuary beyond the veil.
– Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross replaced all OT sacrifices, and so, shortly after his death, the veil of the Temple was torn in two:
Mt 27:51 : And, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom, and the earth shook.
Mk 15:38 : The veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
Luke 23:45 : The sun was darkened and the veil of the temple was torn in half.
Heb 9 : Behind the second veil was the part called the Holy of Holies.
