Jesus

– The name means Yahweh is salvation, and is applied to the expected Messiah, indicating his mission of savior of humanity; the name Jesus is often accompanied by expressions that, according to the AT, characterize the Messiah: Jesus, servant of God:

Mt 12:18 : Behold my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom my soul has set all its affection.

Is 42,1 : Behold my Servant whom I support, my chosen one to whom I give all my affection.

Acts 3:13 , 26 : The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus.

Acts 4:27-30 : For […] Herod and Pontius Pilate were united in this city against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed.

– The earthly vicissitudes of the life of Jesus of Nazareth are narrated in the Gospels, to make us know better the one who rose and who is Christ the Lord, Jesus Christ:

Mc 1,1 : Beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ, Son of God.

– Jesus is the Christ or else Jesus is the Lord are typical professions of faith of the first Christians; after baptism received from John:

Mt 3,13-14 : Jesus went from Galilee to the Jordan to John to be baptized by him.

Mk 1,9-10 : Now in those days Jesus came from Nazareth, from Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Lc 3,21-22 : When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened.

Jn 1,29-30 : The next day, John saw Jesus coming towards him and said: “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world”.

– Started his ministry in Galilee:

Mt 4,12–18,35 : When, therefore, Jesus heard that John had been arrested, he withdrew to Galilee.

Mk 1,14–9,50 : After John was arrested, Jesus went to Galilee. He preached the Gospel of God.

– Announcing the kingdom of God:

– According to the synoptic gospels, the last part of his ministry took place in Jerusalem:

Luke 21–25 : When they arrived at Bethphage, near the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples.

Mk 11–13 : Jesus and his disciples approached Jerusalem and reached the outskirts of Bethphage and Bethany.

Lc 19,29–21,38 : Arriving near Bethphage and Bethany […] Jesus sent two of his disciples.

John 2-3 : Three days later, there was a wedding in Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

John 4–5 : The Lord learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was recruiting and baptizing more disciples than John.

John 7–10 : Jesus traveled through Galilee. He didn’t want to stop in Judea, because the Jews were trying to take his life.

– Where he suffered the passion and died:

Lk 26–27 : You know that in two days it will be Easter, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to be crucified.

Mk 14–15 : The high priests and scribes were looking for some way to arrest Jesus by betrayal in order to kill him.

Luke 22–23 : The Feast of Unleavened Bread, called Passover, was approaching.

Jn 12,12–19,42 : A large crowd that had come to the feast in Jerusalem heard that Jesus was approaching.

– He rose from the dead, appeared to his own:

Mt 28 : After the Sabbath, when the first day of the week was dawning, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.

Mk 16 : After the Sabbath, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices to anoint Jesus.

Luke 24 : On the first day of the week, very early, they went to the tomb with the spices they had prepared.

John 20–21 : Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark. She saw the stone rolled away from the tomb.

– Who spread his message among the Gentiles:

Mt 28,19-20 : Go therefore and teach all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Lc 4,22 : All marveled at the gracious words that proceeded from his mouth, and said: “Is not this the son of Joseph?”.

Jn 1:45 : We have found the one of whom Moses wrote in the Law and whom the prophets announced: he is Jesus of Nazareth, son of Joseph.
