Lamb

– So called the ram’s cub up to one year old, it is considered in several passages of the Bible as a symbol of meekness. It was sacrificed by the Jews for the celebration of the Passover:

Ex 12,1-22 : Each one of you take a lamb for family, a lamb for house.

2Ch 35,11 : They sacrificed the paschal lamb.

– And from other parties:

Leviticus 23:18 : With the bread you shall offer seven lambs as a burnt offering to the Lord.

Num 29,2-39 : You shall offer a burnt offering of a sweet odor to the Lord, a bull, a ram and seven lambs.

– In a figurative sense, he is called the righteous innocent, led to the slaughterhouse:

Jer 11:19 : And I, like a meek lamb led to the slaughter.

Is 53,7 : He was mistreated and resigned; he opened not his mouth, like a lamb led to the slaughter.

– In turn, Jesus sends the disciples on mission like lambs among wolves:

Lk 10,3 : Go, behold, I send you like lambs among wolves.
