Parousia

– Comes from the Greek parousia , presence; actuality, favorable occasion. It commonly indicates the second coming of Jesus at the end of time:

Mt 24,3.27 : When will this happen? And what will be the sign of your return and the end of the world?

Mt 24,29-36 : Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven.

Mc 13,1-23.24-37 : Tell us, when will these things happen? And by what sign will it be known that all this will come to pass?

Lc 21,5-24.25,36 : Days will come when of these things that you see, not one stone will be left on another: everything will be destroyed.

1Cor 7,29 : But this is what I say to you, brothers: the time is short.

1Cor 15:23 : Then those who are Christ’s at the time of his coming.

1Th 2:19 : For who, if not you, will be our hope, […] before our Lord Jesus, on the day of his coming?

1Th 3:13 : May he establish your hearts, […] on the occasion of the coming of our Lord Jesus!

1Th 4:15 : This is what we declare to you, according to the word of the Lord: on the occasion of the coming of the Lord.

Jas 5,7-11 : So be patient, my brothers, until the coming of the Lord.

2Pd,1,16: We have made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Jn 2,28 : So that when he appears, we may have confidence and not be confused by him at his coming.

– Paul and Peter warn their respective communities against the wrong expectation of the immediate coming of Christ:

2Th 2:1 : Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our gathering together to him, we beseech you, brethren.

2Pd 3,1-14 : Where is the promise of his coming? Since our parents died, everything has continued as it was from the beginning.

– Through the Eucharist we prepare for the Lord’s Day:

1Cor 11:26 : As often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you remember the death of the Lord until he comes.
