Samaritans

– Inhabitants of Samaria, city and region of Palestine, capital of the ancient kingdom of Israel. Its origin is narrated in:

2Kings 17,24-40 : These settlers took possession of Samaria and settled in its cities.

– That’s why the Jews didn’t get along with the Samaritans:

Mt 10:5 : You shall not go among the Gentiles, nor shall you enter Samaria.

Lk 9,52-53 : Having left, they went into a Samaritan village to find him a place to stay.

Jn 4,9 : That Samaritan woman said to him: “As a Jew, how can you ask me for a drink, a Samaritan woman!…”.

Jn 8:48 : Then the Jews answered, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and that you have a demon?”

Eclo 50,27-28 : There are two peoples that my soul abhors, and the third, […] those who live on Mount Seir.

– Jesus broke down this barrier and, as the savior of all humanity, went to meet him:

Lc 10,30-37 : But a Samaritan who was traveling, when he arrived at that place, saw him and was moved with compassion.

Lc 17,16 : He prostrated himself at the feet of Jesus and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan.

Jo 4,4-5 : Well, he had to go through Samaria.

Acts 1:8 : And you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Acts 8:5-6 : So Philip went down to the city of Samaria, preaching Christ to them.
