– After God created the waters, he ordered them to gather in one place. And he called the gathering of the waters sea:
Gen 1,9-10 : God said: “May the waters under the sky be gathered together in one place, and the dry element appear”.

Job 26:12 : With his strength he split the sea and with his wisdom he destroyed Rahab.
Job 38,8-9 : Who closed the sea with doors, when it sprouted from the mother’s womb?
Psalm 64:8 : You who calm the waves of the sea, the roar of its waves and the turmoil of the heathen nations.
Ps 92,3-4 : They raise up rivers, Lord, they raise up rivers at your voice, and make the roar of their waves burst.
Is 51,9-10 : Was it not you who dried up the sea and stopped the waters of the great abyss?
– In Semitic culture, the sea was a place of abysses, sheltered sea monsters, evil:
Ps 45,3-4 : Therefore, the earth can tremble, we fear nothing: the mountains themselves can sink into the seas.
Ps 73,3 : Direct your steps to these definitely devastated places; the enemy destroyed everything in the sanctuary.
Psalm 88:10 : You subdue the pride of the sea, you calm its turbulent waves.
Is 44:27 : I say to the abyss: “Secate, I will stop your torrents”.
– In the NT Jesus conquered the sea:
Mt 14,22-36 : Soon after, Jesus forced his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side.
Mk 4,35-36 : “Let us cross over to the other side.” Leaving the people, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was.
Mk 6,45-46 : He forced his disciples to get into the boat, so that they could reach the other side before him.
Jn 6,16-21 : When the evening arrived, his disciples went down to the shore of the lake.
Rev 21:1 : For the first heaven and the first earth disappeared and the sea was no more.
