– From Latin senior , elder, the oldest, is the most common name in the Bible to speak of God, to translate the Hebrew names Yahweh and Adonai.
– Jesus Christ is Lord par excellence:
Mt 22,43-44 : As then, Jesus continued, David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, calls him Lord.
Mark 7:28 : It is true, Lord; but also the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.
Mark 12:36-37 : The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies your footstool.
Lk 1,43 : Where does this honor come to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Lc 2,11 : Today in the City of David a Savior has been born to you, who is Christ the Lord.
Lc 7,13 : Seeing her the Lord, moved with compassion towards her, said to her: “Do not cry!”.
Lc 20,42-43 : The Lord said to my Lord: Sit at my right hand.
Jn 11:21 : Martha said to Jesus: “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died!”.
– Risen and who is with the Father:
Acts 2:36 : With the greatest certainty that this Jesus, whom you crucified, God made him both Lord and Christ.
Rom 1 :4 : According to the Spirit of holiness, the Son of God was established in power by his resurrection from the dead.
Rom 10 :9 : If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and if you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead.
1Cor 12,3 : “Jesus be accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except under the action of the Holy Spirit.

– In AT it was used to indicate the slave/boss relationship:
Gen 24 : 9,18 The servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master and swore to him the oath he asked.
– But the Lord of lords is Yahweh, Creator of all things:
Deut 10:14 , 17 : See, to the Lord your God belong the heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth and all that is in it.
Jos 3,13 : Recognize only your fault; you have been unfaithful to the Lord your God.
Ps 135,2-3 : Praise the Lord of lords, for his mercy endures forever.
Mt 11:25 : I bless you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise.
