Theophany

– From the Greek theofáneia , manifestation, revelation of God in sensible form, since it is impossible to see God as he is:

Gen 3:10 : I heard the noise of your steps in the garden; I was afraid because I am naked; and I hid.

Gn 16,10-11 : I will multiply your posterity in such a way, and they will be so numerous, that they will not be able to count.

Gen 18 : The Lord appeared to Abraham in the oaks of Mamre.

Ex 33,20 : The Lord has gathered – you will not be able to see my face, for man could not see me and continue to live.

Num 22,31-32 : Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way.

Judg 6:22 : Gideon recognized that it was the angel of the Lord and exclaimed: “Woe is me, Lord Yahweh, for I have seen the angel of the Lord”.

Is 6,5 : However, my eyes have seen the king, the Lord of hosts!

Job 38-42 : Then, out of the bosom of the storm, the Lord gave Job this answer: “Who is this that overshadows Providence?”

– To call a mission or establish an alliance:

– That provoked fear and respect:
