Trinity

– Sacred Scripture does not use the word Trinity to indicate the three divine persons. However, in the NT, the three divine persons are distinctly named:

Mt 3,16s : After Jesus was baptized, he immediately came out of the water. Behold, the heavens were opened.

Mt 28:19 : Go therefore and teach all nations; baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Mk 1,9ss : Now in those days Jesus came from Nazareth, from Galilee, and was baptized by John in the Jordan.

Lk 3,21s : When all the people were being baptized, so was Jesus.

John 1:32ff : John had declared: “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven in the form of a dove and it abode on him”.

Jn 16,13ss : When the Paraclete, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will teach you all the truth.

Rom 8:14-17 : For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

Rom 15.15s.30: If I wrote to you in part with particular freedom, it was to remind you.

1Cor 12,4ss : There are diversities of gifts, but one Spirit.

2Cor 1,21s : Now, he who confirms us and you in Christ, and consecrated us, is God.

2Cor 13.13: The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all!

Eph 4,3-6 : Be careful to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

1Pet 1:2 : Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, and sanctified by the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ.

– The Trinity is the mystery of the one God:

Deut 6:4 : Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the only Lord.

Is 45,5 : I am the Lord, without a rival, there is no other God besides me.

– Revealed in the NT in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit:

Luke 3:22 : And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form, like a dove.

Acts 2:33 : Exalted by the right hand of God, having received the promised Holy Spirit from the Father, he poured it out as you see.

Acts 20:27 : For I have omitted nothing in the announcement that I made to you of God’s plans.

– God, invisible, unbegotten Father:

Jn 1:18 : No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has revealed it.

Jn 6:40 : This is the will of my Father: that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life.

2Cor 1,3 : Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies.

Col 1:15 : He is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn of all creation.

1Tm 6,16 : The only one who possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see.

– God, the only begotten Son of the Father:

Jn 1:18 : No one has ever seen God. The only Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, has revealed it.

Jn 3:16 : Indeed, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.

Jn 5:26 : For as the Father has life in himself, so he also gave the Son to have life in himself.

Acts 13:33 : God has fulfilled it before us, his children, by raising up Jesus.

1Jn 4:9: In this the love of God was manifested towards us, that he sent his only Son into the world.

– Savior of men:

Jn 3:16 : Indeed, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.

Rm 5,17-21 : If by the sin of one man death reigned (by that one man).

– God, Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and the Son:

Mt 10:20 : For it will not be you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who will speak in you.

Lc 24,49 : I will send you the promise of my Father; however, I remained in the city.

Jn 14:16 : And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete, to be with you forever.

Jn 15:26 : The Paraclete, which I will send you […], the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me.

Gal 4 :6 : The proof that you are children is that God has sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts.

– Sanctifier:

Lc 1,15.41.67 : He will not drink wine or liquor, and from his mother’s womb he will be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2 :4 : They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues.

Acts 9:17 : Saul, my brother, the Lord […] has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Acts 15:8 : God, who knows the heart, testified about him by giving them the Holy Spirit.

– When Jesus announced the coming of the Holy Spirit:

Lc 24,49 : I will send you the promise of my Father; however, I remained in the city.

Jo 14,16.26 : And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Paraclete, to be with you forever.

Jn 15:26 : The Paraclete, which I will send you […], the Spirit of Truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness to me.

Jn 16,13-14 : When the Paraclete, the Spirit of Truth, comes, he will teach you all the truth.

Acts 1:4-5 : For John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit in a few days.

Eph 1 :3 : Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who blessed us from heaven.

Eph 2:18 : For it is through him that we both have access to the Father in one spirit.

2Th 2:13-14 : For God chose you from the beginning to give you salvation through sanctification by the Spirit.

Heb 10,29-30 : How much worse punishment do you think deserves who tramples underfoot the Son of God?

1Pet 1:2 : Chosen according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, and sanctified by the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ.

Jd 1,20-21 : Dear friends, build one another up on the foundation of your most holy faith. Pray in the Holy Spirit.
