Joseph (Son of Jacob)

– Son of Jacob and Rachel:

Gen 30,22-24 : God remembered Rachel, listened to her and made her fruitful. Rachel conceived and gave birth to a son.

– Envyed because of dreams:

Gen 37,5-11 : Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers, who hated him even more.

– Sold and taken to Egypt:

Gen 37,12-28 : Joseph’s brothers went to pasture their father’s flocks in Shechem.

– Rejected Potiphar’s wife:

Gen 39,1-18 : Joseph was taken to Egypt, and Potiphar, an Egyptian official of Pharaoh, head of the guard, bought him.

– In prison:

Gen 39,19-23 : He threw Joseph into prison, where the king’s prisoners were being held. And Joseph was imprisoned.

– He saw his father again:

Gen 46,28-34 : Joseph had his chariot ready and rode to meet his father in Gessen.

– He died, was embalmed and buried in Shechem:

Gen 50,22-26 : Joseph dwelt in Egypt, and so did his father’s family. He lived one hundred and ten years.

Jos 24:32 : They also buried Joseph’s bones in Shechem, which the Israelites had brought from Egypt.
