Manna

– Food that, according to the Bible, was miraculously provided by God to the Hebrews during their crossing of the desert in search of the Promised Land:

Ex 16,14.21 : And when that dew had evaporated, behold, on the surface of the desert there was a small, granular thing.

Num 11,7-8 : The manna resembled coriander seed and resembled bdellium.

Josh 5:12 : And the manna ceased (from falling) on the day following that on which they ate the produce of the earth.

– Easily became a symbol of spiritual food:

Num 9,15 : And over the tabernacle […] in the tent of testimony […] it appeared as a kind of fire.

Ps 77,24-25 : He made manna rain to satisfy them, he gave them the wheat from heaven.

Ps 104 :40 : At their request, he sent them quails, and satisfied them with bread from heaven.

Wis 16,20-29 : It was with the food of angels that you fed your people, and it was from heaven that […] you sent them bread.

– Especially of the Eucharist:

Jn 6,31-32 : Our fathers ate manna in the desert, as it is written: He gave them bread from heaven to eat.

1Cor 10,3-4 : They all ate the same spiritual food.

Rev 2:17 : To the victor I will give the hidden manna and I will give him a white stone, on which a name is written.
