– Paul writes to the Romans about this mystery which, on the religious level, is the salvation of Jews and Gentiles:
Rom 11:25 : Brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, lest you boast of your wisdom.
Rom 16:25 : According to my Gospel, in the preaching of Jesus Christ – according to the revelation of the mystery.
1Cor 1:23 : But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.
1Cor 2,7 : We preach the wisdom of God, mysterious and secret, which God predetermined before time existed.

– Due to the expectation of a warrior messiah, violent, who would end the enemies of Israel, the Jewish leaders did not understand the mystery of Jesus:
Mt 13,35 : I will open my mouth to teach in parables; I will reveal things hidden since creation.

– For the same reason, the disciples and the people also had difficulty understanding the mysterious mission of Jesus:
Mk 6,49-50 : When they saw Jesus walking on the sea, they thought he was a ghost and cried out.
Lc 9,8.18-19 : He is one of the ancient prophets who has risen.
Jn 6:14 : In view of this miracle of Jesus, those people said: “This is truly the prophet who is to come into the world”.
