– The Latin word from which praise derives ( laus , praise) also has in its concept merit, value, glory, honor, renown, esteem and consideration, demonstration of gratitude, thanks, praise. All these meanings properly address God:
Ps 78,6.8-9.13 : Rather, I unleashed your wrath on […] the kingdoms that do not call on your name.
Ps 88,2 : Indeed, you said: “Kindness is an eternal building”. Your faithfulness established in heaven.
Ps 95,1-2 : Sing a new song to the Lord. Sing to the Lord, all the earth.
Ps 102,1-2 : Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
Ps 104,1-2 : Celebrate the Lord, proclaim his name, proclaim his works among the nations.
Is 6:3 : Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God of hosts! The whole earth proclaims his glory!
Is 12,4-5 : Praise the Lord, invoke his name, make his works known among the peoples.
Jr 31,7 : Shout for joy because of Jacob. Acclaim the first of nations.
– There are passages from Sacred Scripture, from the AT and from the New, in which gratitude is evident:
Es 10,11 : Now, be aware of your fault before the Lord, the God of our fathers, and do his will.
Ps 33:2-3 : Celebrate the Lord with the zither, sing hymns to him on the ten-stringed harp.
Ps 34,17-18 : I will publicly give thanks to you, I will praise you in the presence of the crowd.
Ps 68,31-32 : I will sing a song of praise to the name of the Lord, and I will glorify him with a hymn of gratitude.
Ps 70,5-6 : For you, O my God, are my hope. Lord, from my youth you have been my trust.
Psalm 108 : 30-31 : I will praise the Lord highly, and I will praise him in the midst of the multitude.
