How can we cultivate peace in the church and in our personal lives, as guided by 2 Thessalonians 3:16?

The passage from 2 Thessalonians 3:16 says, “The Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in all ways. The Lord be with you all.” This is a message of peace that can be applied both in church life and in personal life.

Cultivating peace begins with each individual’s personal choice to be an agent of peace. Peace is more than the absence of conflict. It is a state of harmony, tranquility and mutual respect. In the church, this means that we must avoid unnecessary gossip, divisions, and conflicts. In personal life, it means treating people with love, respect and kindness.

A practical way to cultivate peace is to seek reconciliation in conflict situations. Jesus said in Matthew 5:23-24, “If you are offering an offering at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your offering there in front of the altar, and go first be reconciled with your brother. ; then come back and present your offer”. This means that we must prioritize reconciliation and forgiveness over harboring resentment and conflict.

Another way to cultivate peace is through prayer. In the passage of 2 Thessalonians 3:16, it is said that it is the Lord of peace who gives us peace. We must seek God in prayer, asking for his peace for our lives and for the church. This helps us to have the right perspective and deal with difficulties in a more calm and balanced way.

We must also be willing to serve and help one another. The passage from Galatians 5:13 says, “Brothers, you were called to freedom. But do not use this freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but serve one another through love.” Serving others is a practical way to show love and cultivate peace.

Finally, we must remember that true peace comes from God. We can have peace amid the storms of life, knowing that God is with us and that He is able to give us the peace that surpasses all understanding, as it is written in Philippians 4:7: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
