How did King Asa restore true worship and win the war against Ethiopia in 1 Kings 15:9-24?

King Asa was one of the most virtuous kings who ruled Judah, son of Abijah and grandson of Rehoboam. He took the throne of Judah in the twentieth year of King Jeroboam I’s reign in Israel, when he was about 41 years old. At the beginning of his reign, Asa did what was right in the eyes of God, driving out the cult prostitutes and destroying all the idols his father had made. He also commanded the people of Judah to seek the Lord God of their fathers, observing the law and the commandments.

King Asa knew that obedience to God was fundamental to the safety and prosperity of his people. So he strengthened the defense of Judah and won a great battle against the Ethiopian army that had invaded the country. King Asa’s victory was a demonstration of God’s protection in his life and in the lives of his people. In 1 Kings 15:11-15, the Bible says:

“Asa’s heart was perfect with the Lord all his life. He brought into the house of the Lord the things consecrated by his father and the things that he himself had consecrated: silver, gold, and utensils. And there was no war until the thirty-fifth day. year of Asa’s reign.”

King Asa knew that victory in battle did not depend only on his strategy and the number of soldiers, but on God’s protection and blessing. He trusted God in all circumstances and sought his counsel in difficult times. In 2 Chronicles 14:11, Asa said, “Lord, it is nothing for you to help, whether the mighty or the weak; help us, Lord our God, for we trust in you, and in your name we come against you. this multitude. Lord, you are our God; let not man prevail against you”.

King Asa’s story is an example for us Christians of how we should trust God and live according to His will. We should follow Asa’s example in seeking the Lord in all things and in keeping a perfect heart before Him. Obedience and faithfulness to the Lord are fundamental to our protection and prosperity, just as they were for Asa and the people of Judah.

In addition, Asa’s story teaches us that we should trust in divine providence and ask for God’s help in times of difficulty. He shows us that when we put our trust in God, He can help us overcome our battles and difficulties. Therefore, we must always remember that the Lord is our refuge and strength at all times, and that we may prayerfully and confidently seek help from him.
